“When I first started with FNB in January, I was very excited and looked forward to my career with such a great institution. As I started to get to know my colleagues, I realised that most of them were demotivated . . .     It felt as if I had chosen the right company to work for, but had fallen amongst a group of unhappy people. Barely two weeks into the job, I saw restlessness and poor behaviours from more and more of the staff, but then the Opulence training began. At first, people were skeptical about Opulence. There were comments such as “there have been other trainings before and nothing has changed, what will this training change?” However, there were also positive responses from a small group of staff members who looked forward to the training. After the first week of training, I perceived a slight change in some colleagues, there were signs of changing attitudes and commitment to the business.  After the second session, we started having a 10-minute motivational session in the morning. This brought about better teamwork, since issues such as respect and maintaining the proper attitude was given attention.

Staff had matured when dealing with issues and began accepting responsibility for their actions. We saw more productive meetings; suddenly there were more suggestions and solutions and less complaints and unrest.

Personally, through the training I have rediscovered myself, not only as an individual but as a team member too. I saw my leadership and mentoring skills being sharpened. The facilitators helped me understand my potential and uncovered certain skills that I was unaware of till now. Opulence has changed the outlook of my colleagues in Private Label.
