Examples of ACHIEVEMENTS through OPULENCE
At SASOL Gas Production where OPULENCE ran for a year and a half, major benefits were achieved:

- The Division scored because of massive cost savings gained through improvements in performance, teams working together in the most wonderful ways & Champions cooperating to devise & implement innovative and ingenious solutions, something which was reflected in the Division’s interim statements as profitability shot way up.
- Whilst attending Workshops and of their own accord, employees from different teams started cooperating to turn problems into opportunities.
- Change Agents – developed during the OPULENCE process – gained a renewed appreciation for their inherent greatness, as they expanded their ability to add value & devised remarkable solutions in targeted areas. Thereafter, these Champions operated as Role Models as they continued to expand their ability to contribute to their organization & surrounding communities.
- Gasification – the main division – achieved their highest production record ever – overcoming a perception that increased production was impossible beyond certain levels – given the age, specifications and wear and tear of the equipment involved.
- A number of problems – which had previously been labeled as endemic to the business – were successfully turned into breakthroughs by participants.
- Team spirit & co-operation improved not only within teams, but also across the disciplines, contributing to building the greater Gas Production Team.
- Culture shifted in favour of Cooperation, responsible Learning, Innovating & Giving.
- According to internal surveys conducted at the beginning & end of the project, employees’ attitude improved dramatically during the process. Morale went from an all time low at the beginning of the project, to being rated as the highest in the various divisions.
- As the integration process took place, the workforce gained a greater understanding & appreciation of the intricacies of ‘Positive Reality Creation’, embracing change and ADDING VALUE on extra ordinary levels, whilst being grateful for the opportunities on their doorstep.
- In the first Project which was run at FNB, staff experienced a major turnaround, something which was reflected in the profitability of the department. Staff went from being demotivated to becoming top performers, which culminated in them winning one of the prestigious FNB Innovations Awards.
- Many of the FNB IT staff that participated in the OPULENCE programme devised remarkable solutions to correct endemic problems, proposed smart, innovative & powerful solutions to reduce costs and support their Division in growing their competitive advantage whilst improving Service Delivery.
- After training and mentoring a Black engineer from a manufacturing background and placing him in Sales, he became Africa’s top Sales person for a major multi national organization – outperforming by far any of his colleagues from this day onward. Then within a few short years, he was appointed Country Manager.
- After putting their staff through the OPULENCE programme, a company that had not been able to grow beyond a certain point, in spite of all their efforts, found themselves more than doubling in size and growing profitability, this within a very short time frame.
- AVANTI used the OPULENCE principles to devise a practical program – centering around job & business Incubators, Champions and Innovations – to grow prosperous & ethical entrepreneurs so as to expand the economy, bring hope and support South Africa in its process of becoming a leading and prosperous economy. They have an NPO Trust by the name of INFINITY.
- As such AVANTI has built strong relationships with inventors, and businesses offering remarkable innovations that can be used to grow businesses as well as the development of prosperous communities.
- Devised the concept of Industrial Theatre. After demonstrating its effectiveness in one of the mines, it became a household item in SA.
- Many years ago, AVANTI approached the Government to start a National Lottery as a way to lower taxes. Thereafter, an inquiry was conducted & the Lottery implemented. Unfortunately the lotto was never used to lower the taxes – as proposed.
